a Song/Story by Lied'Dunkel, "The Fate of an Elf"

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Remembering the event of his life, the young elf was sitting on a large stone in a peaceful glade. Holding his mandolin with his left hand, pinching the strings with his right hand, a strong feeling of sadness could have been heard across the forest. Echoing between the trees, like an odd to the elf's memories.

*Overwhelmed by the emotions, the bard started to sing without restraining his tears.*

Once upon a time, in a far far away forest
An elven community, was living in a paradise
Enjoying the life of immortality, they were at peace
Decades have passed, hidden from civilisation

This city was ruled by the happiness and the kindness of each other. One day a stranger entered the forest. Birds, hares, foxes, even the trees were scared of this presence. Under the feet of the unwanted guest, the vegetation was dying, sucked from their vital essence.

He walked with confidence, archers were aiming him
He walked toward the city, the first arrow was fired
Disintegrated on the course, as the others
Victims count was announced, all fallen!

Ravaging the forest, he called upon the elements
From the top to the roots, the trees were incinerated
From the top to the base, the rocks were shattered
nothing stand in his path, nothing survive in his path
The scene cannot be describe, the scene cannot be forgotten

All this madness only started. The sentries were launched after the stranger. Those experienced archers could have got rid of anything in those woods. More than one time they bring down raging owlbears and orcish tribes. But did they were prepared for the unknown...

Following his tracks, they found him rapidly
Firing at will, a rain of arrows covered the sky
Bouncing on the stranger, he removed his dark cloak
Armoured like a black dragon, fear grows around him
Petrified by fear, the archers couldn't escape
Their last images, a cold blooded killer

Like a disease, the fear expanded to reach abnormal dimension. Carrying with him this aura, no one dared to attack again. An hour later he arrived to the elven city doors. Everybody was looking at him whispering to each other, "who is he?", "what he want?” The stranger entered the city to reach the central place. From there he could have seen the very beauty of this city; instead he looked directly to the head of the community. Provoking an earthquake who brought the elf and his house into the depth of the earth.

Horrified by the scene, the elves started to flee
Seeking for safety, they found one of the most secure
Waking up in the after life, they all get reunited
But one was missing, a young bard and his mandolin

Eyes to eyes with the stranger, he saw a new world
The world of hatred, the world of darkness
Taking a last breath, his time was counted
He closes his eyes, and waited for his death

Resigned to die, he opened his eyes again and saw the stranger turning around and forever those words are carved in his memories, "Come with me, you will tell what happened here, and everywhere I will go... now your life is mine". The tears of sorrow were running on his cheeks, but a flow of life emerged suddenly. Realising his good fortune, the bard grabbed his mandolin and followed the stranger, swearing allegiance on his saved life.

Looking over his shoulder, a vision of horror
Where peace resided, is the ruins of an elven city
Memories from the past, now consumed by the present
The darkness cloaked the ruins, and the city was forgotten

When the last note echoes in the glade, an expression of emptiness could be red in the bard's visage. Dried from all tears, his eyes were fixing the shadows between the trees. Regaining his senses after a while, he put back his mandolin once again and stood up to quit the peaceful glade. At the border, he marked a pause and touched a tree followed by the words "I'm sorry." in the same tone of sadness.

*Without looking back, he left the forest to find his master.*
