[Introduction]

Year after year, several alliances were formed to vanquish The Dark Order, led by Kampfer and his minions. No one could stop them from roaming the lands. Wreaking havoc and spreading terror wherever they went. Many had been aware of an evil presence within Blood Rock. The home of his secret lair. No one truly knew what was going on deep underneath the walls of the mountain. Though it was certainly bound to be evil.

[Chap 1: The Wish]

Ever since he could remember Kampfer dreamt night after night of destruction, pain and chaos. This dream began to bear fruition finally when the great Lord Kron descended into the lands of Dapetan. His dream had far reaching implications and wasn't for a mere human to achieve. It would take several lifetimes to succeed and maybe more. Knowing that only eternity would allow him to continue his preparations for the ascension of Kron. Kampfer decided to gather all the information possible and placed it in his private library from where he could continue his research for eternal life.

With the help of his minions, he succeed in gathering the most impressive collection of documents of all kind. Magical scrolls, history books, personal logs to name a few. He studied them for months and months. One day, gossip of a strange book, probably unique in its kind, started to interest Kampfer. Sending his latest minion, Nrel, to investigate the book. He returned with alarming news. Weapons Master Jagg was indeed the owner of the book, and the owner of it he intended to stay.

Chasing his former ally all over the lands, he would acquire that book whatever the cost, but only one price was set on, the blood of each other. Battle after battle ensued with either of the oppenents disappearing, to be continued in another place, another time, another way. From trickery to duels, everything was the weapon of evil.

One day, Jagg came out of Dwar's tavern after quaffing one to many cups of wine and mead. Kampfer and Nrel were waiting for him. Unleashing his rage upon the half-giant, who was fighting at his side years ago. Sending Jagg to the healers, Nrel quickly searched Jaggs bag. Finding what he was looking for, Nrel smirks, and hands the leather-bound book to his master.

Back to his lair, he started to study his new acquisition. Surprised by fact he cannot open the damn book. He ponders how that witless fighter could have used that thing. The answer didn't take long to arrive. Like a voice in his head, the book told him that only someone of worth would be able to open it. Cleverly the book announces that if Kampfer can prove himself worthy, it would show him the secrets of immortality.

Not knowing what proof it needed, Kampfer stopped his reseaches to concentrate for months on some ridiculous quests given to him by the book. Scoffing at him each time that Jagg was more impressive and cleverer by far. Kampfer infuruated by its infernal insults snaps and threatens to rip out its pages and feed then to the fire himself. Though Kampfer never know for acting hastily decided to lock it down in a dusty chest before it drove him to drastic measures. Thinking of the best way to open the book, he came to the conclusion that only a powerful mage would be able to counter that cursed book of deceipt. Then he might finally access the information he needed.

While searching for a mage he could control as he wanted, he got back to his library to search for more information. Looking at an ancient alchemists book. Kampfer came to understood that not all magic came in writing but also into potions. He decided to have a well protected laboratory built deep in the mountain. He sent his minions out to collect all the potions, vials and all such magical items known to man. After Months, the laboratory was filled with countless concotions, but without a mage to identify everything it was pointless.

[Chap 2: The Betrayal]

A pair of adventurers, closer than siblings, were walking the lands. In search of mishchief they ranged far and wide. At every opportunity improving their abilities and skills. At last they found a place where it was possible to do such a thing, Dapetan. Shadowchaser the ranger and Kaneda the mage, both half-breed between elf and human, were travelling together, have lived numerous adventures and for years have shared everything, no secrets or lies came between them.

Such a close relationship couldn't exist very long in a land driven by evil. Becoming stronger with time, they started to be noticed and finally attracting Kampfer's attention. Like providence, a mage, experienced but not yet skilled but ripe for the picking . Like every mage, his commitment to magic knew no bounds. Promising knowledge to the young mage, Kampfer offered to become his master and mentor. Ensnaring Kaneda with stories of glory and power. Kampfer soon had the mage exactly where he wanted him, in the palm of his hand, ready and willing to do his bidding wherever whenever. Kanedas fellow compatriot demonstrated her displeasure as she knew only too well what would happen should Kaneda be tempted by the Dark side.

Without any commitment to the Dark Order, Kaneda started to practice really hard for months under the protection of Kampfer. Kaneda’s course of action resulted in the parting of the ways for himself and Shadowchaser. Kampfer revelled yet again in destroying something that was once good. For Kaneda his magic was everything to him, becoming powerful and respected was his priority. Driven by an insatiable need Kaneda grew further and further away from all he had known. Insensed by what Kaneda had turned into. Shadowchaser became obsessed with revenge, her need to purge the lands of this creature that had driven her brother mad. Showing good results, he received a worthy reward, the teaching of a new and powerful spell. At this moment, Kaneda saw how beneficial this mentorship was. He decided to fully embrace the Dark Order and its beliefs and became Kaneda the Dark Flame!

[Chap 3: The Needs]

Training amongst the elite of the Dark Knights, Kaneda soon found his home and special place in the ranks of the agent of Kron. As a magical advisor, he had been provided with a series of scrolls and spells that would allow him to begin his purpose. After weeks of research through the entire Library and the Alchemist Laboratory, he came up with an exhaustive list of their inventory.

More research eventually led to something close to the answer Kampfer was looking for. It was said that "The spirit of the one who wants to become the living dead must be contained withing an enchanted gem". Unfortunately Kaneda was not powerful enough as yet to undertake this enchantment. Kampfer had no option but to beseech his god to assist him. Days later, Kampfer received his answer. It was grim news and not what he had been expecting. He was to have little assistance from Kron and would have the task of finding a suitable gem himself. Not only that, but he would have to have the gem embedded into an enchanted weapon. Finally desecrating the blade with the blood and soul of its creator. No easy task indeed.

None of the many gems within the Alchemist Laboratory would suffice. They were not strong enough to hold the soul of the Mighty Kampfer. During the dead of night a vision came to him like piece of a puzzle. Kron appeared in front of him holding a stone. The stone mirroring the darkness within Kron’s eyes, its touch smooth as glass. An insistent voice echoing in the vaults of Kampfer’s insane mind. Repeating time and time again that by finding this gem his mission would be half way to success. As the whispers receded Kampfer was assailed by another vision. Flinching at his masters power he saw were the gem was to be found. Deep within the recesses of an icy cave, the enchanted gem guarded by the living dead.

For months he prepared himself for the journey that would lead him finally to immortality. Keeping this a secret, he sent his minions gathering potions and magical items without telling them why. Remembering clearly the last image from his vision. Kampfer spent month after month in his library scouring his maps for a clue to the caves location. At last one day an old and well worn parchment gave Kampfer the answer. At last he could carry out his mission and without further ado he made ready.

Entering an old gate which was overcome by the ravages of time, he followed the path to what could have once been a large building, now a crumbling ruin. Taking a deep breath to calm the excitement, or was is madness, building within him. Kampfer cast a variety of protective spells. He slipped inside with caution. Feeling the cold emanating from the lower passages, he followed the twisting turning tunnel down to the entrance of the cave. As he stepped inside he was besieged on all sides by the undead creatures that resided there. Determined to get what he came here for, he slaughtered everything in his path. Making his way towards the central room where he could see the darkness of the gem like a beacon. Drawing closer, Kampfer feeling victory in his grasp, stops suddenly and stares in consternation. This was NOT part of his vision. Who dares to defy him, who is this creature standing between him and his prize. The silence is all consuming. With an evil smirk again Kampfer summons his unholy power and unleashes it on the guardian. Without a word spoken he attacks with all his might, using every spell known to him. Much to Kampfer's surprise and irritation, the guardian replies in kind. Sadly for the guardian, Kampfer's will and determination are much stronger and slowly but surely he destroys.

Securing the Gem safely in one of his many bags. Kampfer strode purposely back towards his lair. When all of sudden, he met the new Guardian of the white castle, Shadowchaser, followed by Weapon Master Jagg. Having not recovered yet from his previous fight, he decided to not search them out as he knew to fight them both as he was could prove disastrous. His irritation grew as Shadowchaser continued to taunt him. Her disrespect of him was unacceptable and she would pay dearly for it. Searching for a place to rest, he found the inn of a small village nearby. Both Shadowchaser and Jagg were following closely and happened upon his resting place. No one would stop him now that he has the gem so praised and decided to attack those fools. Kampfer knew though that Jagg was a formidable opponent. Already Wounded and his magical abilities drained, his only exit was to retreat, and quickly! which he did. Laughing as he did at Shadowchaser who had not managed to put herself together and get her revenge. So much for the new guardain of the White Castle - they really do need to be more careful who they recruit.

Safely back in his lair Kampfer relived his recent battle again and again, suddenly a whisper in his mind told him that Kron knew he had the gem and he was ready for his next task, the crafting of the weapon. Only one blacksmith could be skillful enough to do such a thing, Bhezkam, from the white castle.

[Chap 4: The Rise]

While scheming and planning a way in which to convinve Bhezkam to craft the weapon for him, Kampfer ordered the construction of a new room in his Crypt. This ritual chamber would not only serve for his transformation but also to keep the source of his power away from enemies.

Followed by Kaneda to the lair of the dark knights, Kampfer went to the Statue of Kron. He wished to announce he intention to act soon but also to get divine help to deceive the fool who would craft his weapon. In a cloud of darkness, Kron started to take corporeal form. As Kron became visible he stared at the mage hiding in the shadows. With a simple motion of his hand, he teleported the terrified mage away. Telling him that this conversation wasn't for him. Bringing back his attention to the dark knight. With an evil smile, his voice filled Kampfer’s mind. Deceiving the blacksmith wasn't part of the plan, but pleased with his follower’s initiative, he transformed his physical appearance and the aura around him to something only paladins could have.

Waving at the castle guard while crossing the drawbridge, an unusual thing for Kampfer. He was headed to the forge of Bhezkam. After his introduction to the smith, the disguised dark knight showed a magical sword, taken earlier from the cold dead hand of a vigil Knight. He asked the Smithy if he could embed a gem into the weapon to enhance its magical powers. Questionning Kampfer closely about the purpose of such a thing, he was satisfied that the weapon was for a truly great purpose. It was to be used in bringing about the destruction of a great evil growing in the north of the lands, and only such a weapon would be efficient against it. Calling for the help of his assistant and set to work forging this enchanted weapon.

Hours later, the smith presented the sword to him and asked him to thrust and parry the weapon to ensure the balance was correct. After a few fancy moves, Kampfer stared at Bhezkam an evil grin lighting upon his features. With growing alarm the smith stared in fascination as Kampfer transformed in front of his very eyes. The horror could be seen in the face of the blacksmith. The realisation that he had aided a Dark Knight weighed heavily upon him and he must remedy this terrible error. The eyes of the dark knight were already injected with blood and hatred. They glowed anew as he watched Bhezkam take up his great smiths hammer in a bid to face this nightmare.

Agonizing between the forge and the armour racks, Bhezkam was praying for a miracle, which didn't came, but instead, Kampfer slowly impaled the heart of the poor dwarf with his own creation while laughing hysterically at him. Pulling the sword from the body, he left the forge to reach the upper floor. Standing on a balcony, he called upon his magic and began to fly toward Blood Rock and his destiny.

Landing in front of Blood Rock, he knew nothing would stop him anymore. On entering the ritual chamber, Kron was standing in the middle of the room, pleased by his minions progress. Removing his armour, Kampfer put on the ceremonial black robe given to him by Kron. His hand was open and was waiting for the sword. Without hesitation, the dark knight gave the sword to the god. Thunderclouds were circling Blood Rock pulled by the powers of Kron and the sounds of them echoing in the halls. Ready as he ever would be, Kampfer knelt and spread his arms. Looking in the eyes of Kron and said: "I'm ready, I'm ready to die, to reborn more powerful than ever!". Thunderheads boomed over Blood Rock, at the same moment, the corrupted blade pierced the heart of the dark knight.

The voice of Kron could have been heard all over the lands, "Arise, Kampfer... Dark Prince of mine... arise once more!".

[Conclusion]

Looking at him, the members of the Dark Order were unaware of what happened but could easily feel the aura of death pervaying his very soul. A new Kampfer came to lead them towards something great and ambitious.

Immortality has been granted to him as a boon by his god. Now reborn as a living dead, what will stop this creature from acquiring more power, now that he has all eternity to search for it.....

Will it be you? Do you have the courage.....
