Death

Got an idea? Keep it to yourself!! Just kidding, leave them here and discuss them with your fellow players.

Hehe, i know what he's talking about, but he indeed put it in a bit crappy english. His point is to make a player lose xp based on how much he should collect from his previous earned lvl. So instead of losing xp based on your total amount, you will lose xp based on the amount you need to reach the next lvl. Example; You just leveled and you need about 100k xp in order to level again. After a while you have gained say...75k, your total amount would be pfff lets say...750k. Now instead of losing 1/6 of 750k, you will now lose a certain % (much higher than 1/6) of 100k, the amount you need to reach the next lvl.

Hopes this make things more clear!

Does anyone actually know how "lost exp" is calculated on LOS - coz I'm pretty sure on Mordor muds the loss is related to the level (and therefore your exp)you are at rather than just looking at the total exp. I recall reading in help files in "isen" type muds that the "lost exp" calculation ensures u can never drop more than 1 level (*shudder at that thought*). Surely that means the calculation already looks at your level - unless the code is changed drastically in the Flint engine.

As far as i know, the situation now is that you will lose 1/6th of your total amount. Don't know if you can lose more than 1 lvl.

First I will correct you Ghandi.. its 1/5 (20%) of the current level. Ex.: If you are lvl 2 you needed 512 to get there... if you die you lose 102 exp.

for the % I don't know on what they based it (but it still too high  )

And I don't think you can't delevel twice in one death.. its probably balanced in Math to limit that.

P.S.: 168 post! (doh)

My latest death fits more with Ghandi's theory - a lvl 6 with just over 19000 exp (i was delaying levelinng) - lost 3000exp. Now to get from lvl 6 to lvl 7 u need just over 8000 but 3000 lost is a lot more than 1/5. Maybe other ppl want to post their exp loss here so we can look for a trend

You know.. Kampfer just died yesterday.. I could verify because I have the latest EXP (5min before death) logged.. the sad part is I don't want to have a heart attack so I just don't want to check at it.

Still wonder why we have to calculate 20% for SAFE leveling if its not 1/5
(20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 100) (so 1/5 = 20%)

Or I'm a total idiot and I miss something somewhere... but I'm sure my calcul is correct.

I'm afraid you missed something.

the amount you add is 20% for safety. This gives you 6/5's of the exp needed to stay in this level. When you die you lose 1/6 of your experience thus taking you back down to 5/5's of your requirement. You are safe, anything less and you are not.

For information, when we took our copy of the mordor code six years ago the cost of a death was 1/4 of your exp. We felt this to be too high and reduced it to 1/6.

As has been mentioned, this is the RISK you take, without it the exp gains are meaningless. Unless gross stupidity is involved we feel for players who die, especially multiple deaths. We know exactly how it feels ourselves.

Nana nanana  Based on experience you should know I would have been right Kampfer :P

But 1/4th first??? This problem was mentioned because more and more people are reaching the highest lvls. Since you cannot lvl any further you are just gaining xp in the hope one day we can lvl further. But at a amount of 2.5M you would surely be lvl 19 and therefore would probably gain more xp, so therefore 1/6th of that amount could be gained easier. But now we are still lvl 18/17 and regaining 400/500k with this lvl is just harder.

Can you give us a little hint (big one is also ok  ) when we are able to lvl to 19 and further?

Doh... I'm a total idiot... (well nothing change)

Ya.. because "before" my last death I had "Exp : 3213537" which probably teleport me to the 20th/21th lvl I think.. I still fear to check my stats and I think I will play without checking them if you tell me lvl 19 will come pretty fast.. because it will add to my RP to don't check always where are my % and which one I should train... cause for now I'm living for raising them and raising fund for my place :)

P.S.: Ghandi... **** *** *Big wink* HAHAHAHA
