I thought it might be useful to have a thread purely for compiling the details of occassions when connection to LOS fails (rather than vaguer descriptions of "last night" or "for a few days" etc.). I'll start!

7th Dec 2005, 20:20 to 20:30 hrs
Zmud reports it is attempting connection to 217.10.142.10 and is not successful. Allowed to go through 3 of the automatic re-attempts
Telnet through the LOS home page reports it is attempting to connect to mud.landsofstone.org and shuts itself down after 20 seconds or so of lack of success.

If any more information would be useful, post what you need here and I'll try and supply it.

Good idea, Jagg but due to the peculiar nature of this problem it seems to me that providing info on when we can successfully connect is just important. so ...

PS Kaedan's explanation about UK Solutions firewalls was useful but my tracert when I couldn't connect, still lead there so surely that points the finger fair and square at the ISP.

That is indeed a good idea, Qoith. Especially as I've just tried to connect with no success. Now I'm perplexed!

23:30 hrs... no connection, tried for a minute via Zmud

Should specify if you get somelike like Connection Refused, Timeouts or anything like that.

Both Zmud and Telnet time out without connecting

I haven't been trying all that often between this occasion and the first posts, but I've never had a successful connection since the start of this thread.

Kaedan.. maybe asking the webhoster if they have any blocks on some ISP.. like Jagg's, mine, Arnaud's, etc...
