My internet connection at home seems to be well and truly stuffed. I don't seem to be able to connect via telnet at work either. Could some kind DM make sure no-one important gets dusted in the near future, while I get this sorted out? Pretty please with sugar on?

Don't worry too much, I reckon a level 18 like yourself will take months before gettings dusted. I think it's about a month for a level 1 even...
