Why does my bless keep failing?

Ok, this is driving me nuts. My MP ticks slow enough without me blasting 10 of it on blesses that dont work. I have 18 int and 12 pty, (although, i've failed it while prayed) and my aura is fine...what is going on?!?
Edit - It often fails twice in a row...just to be really outrageous.

To fail a couple of times, not 2 times in a row. I'm starting to think i'm failing it more often than i'm casting it.

Class also matters afaik.
So quite simply a monk or mage will do better than a paladin or warrior at the same stats.
At least I think that's how it works.
