Roleplay in the late hours

Got an idea? Keep it to yourself!! Just kidding, leave them here and discuss them with your fellow players.

Roleplay in the late hours

Postby Scorpion » Wed May 12, 2004 12:45 am

Since you, the DM, can't wake stay all day and night to watch us, some rp will never be noticed. Im talking about the efforts made at night (european region). During those hours a lot of players a on from the other side of the ocean. Some are trying to rp as well, but it's never noticed.

Now here's the idea: save the broadcasts which are made for a day or something. Put of limit of minimum 3 broadcasts before adding them to some sort of public list or watchers' list when they are stored. This way, rp can be read afterwards.

Other option: Melodor, drink a lot of caffiene and stay awake days. Sleep at work :P

Actually very little RP is lost, we're on and watching most of the time.

Try to remember that we don't tend to dish out full RP awards for 'normal' roleplay (consistant behaviour), we tend to award that with silent nudgings of the characters rating. Visable awards with exp and gold tend to be reserved for roleplay that's outstanding or particularly creative.

I certainly gave out one full RP award last night, and nudged a couple of people's roleplay ratings silently. Just because you don't know about it doesn't mean we're not there, watching and assessing...

Could you explain this nudging a little more? It is hard to judge how one is doing with "consistant roleplay" because no awards happen. Is it just a percentage of a roleplay award?

Couldnt there be something to tell us what DMs are on? Like when you type who you get the list of people on then under it the list of DMs online.

You're kidding, right?

No, you can't have a list of when we're online. If people were to *know* when we are and aren't there then I suspect people would "behave differently".

It's better for both roleplay and protecting LoS if you never know when we're looking over your shoulder.

(to Steejo) It's also different in the case of liaisons. You can see when they're on line, it's just we don't seem to have them around as much as before.

Actually you can't see when liaisons are online, we need them to watch for roleplay and misbehaving players too. You can only see them when they choose to make themself seen, as with the full DMs.

I suspect that they're around a lot more than your realise.

Is that still happening? Haven't seen misbehaving players for a long time now, but that's maybe because im not that much online myself :?
